Lifespan age differences in feedback processing during decision making PDF

Event-related potentials (FRN, in light blue) to gain (green) and loss (red) feedback are most differentiated in younger adults. The amount of differentiation between gains and losses reflects the ability of our monitoring system to focus on a classification of the feedback according to task goals. Children and older adults therefore show a weaker processing of goal-relevant outcomes during reinforcement learning.
